Player of the week
Brendan Perlini
Brendan Perlini really struggled coming into Chicago. He just did not seem to find the right grove coming in, and was being scratched game after game almost 2 weeks ago. In the last week however things have really turned around for the 22 year old winger. Perlini has 5 goals and 2 assists in the Blackhawks last 3 games. And is a big reason that the Hawks won their last 3 games against playoff teams in Montreal Toronto and Arizona. What really changed about Perlini’s play?
Establishing a role on an NHL team is key to finding success, Perlini really did not have one throughout most of the season, but with Caggiula going down to an injury earlier this month, and a spot open in the top 6 Perlini has stepped up big. Perlini has been playing a big role in the last few games and has averaged 15 minutes of ice time in 2 of the last 3 games.
Brendan Perlini has just 36 games with the Blackhawks and only 189 games in his 3 year NHL career. Perlini has not been able to play a consistent game of hockey for more than 5 games in his career, however in the last 3 games things have changed for Perlini. Hopefully Perlini can continue to play a high level of hockey and help push the Blackhawks win streak past 5 games.
