Spotlight : The Chicago Blackhawks Toews/Kane Era

When I say hall of fame Blackhawks what players come to mind? Bobby Hall, Stan Mikita, Denis Savard, and countless other Chicago Blackhawks' greats, or maybe you think of Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, and Duncan Keith. The Blackhawks have some of the best players in team history playing now.

When you look at a team with 3 of the top 100 players of all time on it right now, you have to wonder are you witnessing history in the making? When it comes to the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2010-2015 run fans witnessed history, let's track some of the best moments to spotlight from recent history.

One Goal - 2010

Campbell passes the puck over to Kane, Kane skates up the ice sliding down the boards Kane puts the puck towards the back of the net, and and what it's in.

"We saw no light, we saw no buzzer, but they are celebrating at the other end of the ice, what chaos."

The Blackhawks had made it to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in a long time. After putting Philadelphia up against the wall in 2 periods in a game 6, the Hawks were pushed to Overtime against the Flyers after a horrendous third period.

The moment that made Patrick Kane a hero, for the first time, came in Philadelphia in 2010. Chicago, who had the longest Stanley Cup drought to date at the time would go on to have much more success.

Two Goals In 17 Seconds - 2013

"Now Boston Will be the one that needs to empty their net."

Having won a Stanley Cup in 2010 Blackhawks fans had thought they had seen everything going into the Final in 2013. Blackhawks fans would go all the way until game 6 of the final with 3 minutes left in the game to see something new.

The Blackhawks were down 2-1 with under 5 minutes left in the game. They emptied their net with a last ditch effort to change the outcome and halt a game 7 back in Chicago. With Crawford on the bench Bryan Bickell flew over the ice and into the offensive zone. From there he received a pass to the slot from Patrick Kane and tied the game at 2.

Things did not slow down with just the one goal though. The following play led to the puck in deep in Boston's zone, when a wonderful tip by Marcus Kruger put the puck behind Tuukka Rask and against the post. Dave Bolland took care of the rest.

2013 might be the best ending to a Stanley Cup Final ever.

Que Chelsea Dagger - 2015

Going into 2015 the Blackhawks had won 2 Stanley Cups and nearly grabbed another in 2014. If you want to see one of the top worst moments in the Toews/Kane era check out that 2014 finish.

But 2015 brought new hope for the Blackhawks. They were once again chasing a Stanley Cup but this time they were doing it with the hope of also winning it at home.

After making it all the way to a game 6 against the Tampa Bay Lightning there was no doubt that the Blackhawks would finish the Lightning at home.

The Blackhawks started the game same as normal with little jump in their step. Until Duncan Keith scored in the second period. That goal solidify Duncan Keith's campaign for the Conn Smythe trophy and would go on to be the game winner.

The Spotlight series is not about the narrative that goes along with these big games, but when you get to look back and look at a clip like the ones including in this article you see the dominance of one team through the Toews and Kane dynasty.
