Joel Quenneville many believed was an untouchable piece in the Blackhawks franchise. The former head coach of the Blackhawks won them 3 Stanley Cups, and was the second most winningest coach all time. Earlier this month the Blackhawks fired him. Now here is our speculation on who within the Blackhawks is untouchable.
Based on the idea Stan Bowman has a brain and would not trade prospects like Adam Bodquist and Henri Jokiharju they will not be included on this list. If we need to explain ourselves on that decision email us and we will write something on it…
Untouchables
Coach Jeremy Colliton – Even though Coach C is yet to get a win with the Blackhawks he is a lock as one of our untouchables for the next few years. Colliton is the new face of the Blackhawks. Whether or not Colliton’s era is marked with success or failure is yet to come.
GM Stan Bowman – *sigh* personal issues aside Bowman is who the Blackhawks management is siding behind with the Blackhawks slow start. Bowman has a plan and now the Hawks players and everyone involved with the team needs to just trust in what he wants to do.
Toews – I do not think we will be seeing Jonathan Toews in any kind of trade talks ever. Mostly because his hefty 10 million dollar price tag makes him an asset no team adores, even with 3 Stanley Cups to his name.
Kane – The Blackhawks are bracing into a rebuild. Kane is the one piece that can prevent that from happening. He led the team to the playoffs in both 2016 and 2017. Kane being the best piece the Blackhawks have ever had, being their only number one pick, should never be traded from the team.
Keith – Keith is the Chicago Blackhawks defense. Although he is getting older, Keith still leads the team in many ways both on and off the ice, Chicago needs to give him the opportunity to play out the rest of his career here, of course the same was said for Joel Quenneville not so long ago.
Shmaltz/Debrincat/Kahun – These 3 players are being grouped together because they represent the Blackhawks new core. Ryan Hartman and Vinnie Hinostroza could have easily been pieces on this list if they were not traded away last year. The Blackhawks need to let these 3 guys grow and mature in their team. We do not need to see any more trades like Danault or Teravainen with the Blackhawks.
Crawford – Corey Crawford is an interesting piece on this list. If the Blackhawks were to rebuild I would say he could be shipped out of here to get prospects. The Blackhawks would be condemning themselves to the bottom of the standings but it would bring back some great assets.
Bubble Players
Gustafsson, Seabrook, Saad, Rutta
Keep The Bag Packed
Murphy, Kruger, Kunitz, Hayden, Anisimov, Ward
Bubble Players: If the season continues to progress in the fashion it is in expect these guys to be on the block as big name returns. Although I never see them finding anyone willing to take Seabrook.
Keep The Bag Packed: These guys are fair game to be traded at any time to change up the locker room. Murphy is the mostly likely safe candidate out of all of them.
