Blackhawks fading fast

It has been 5 games since the Blackhawks won a game. After starting off the season with a hot start and 6-2-2 the Blackhawks have gone 0-4-1 in the last 5 games. The Hawks have been fading fast throughout the league, now it’s time to ask is a change coming for the team?

Could Coach Q be leaving sooner rather than later?

Coach Joel Quenneville is a big reason the Blackhawks have won 3 Stanley cups in recent history. He is the second winningest coach in the NHL and is a Hall Of Fame caliber coach already. However could it be time the Hawks ask Q to leave? I would have to say there are arguments for both sides for Quenneville’s door closing with the Blackhawks. A team with so much talent and skill should not be in the position the Blackhawks are in. Look at the Penguins back in 2016. After having a horrendous start to the season they fired their head coach Mike Johnston to bring in Mike Sullivan. Sullivan then lead the team back to the playoffs after being out of it at the time of the all star break, and lead the team to 2 back to back Stanley Cups. The Hawks are not the Pens, however it can be agreed upon that Q is not bringing out the best in Toews and Kane and company. The Blackhawks need to find a new face to lead the Hawks in this new era, and it needs to not be a familiar one for the franchise.

Recently teams have been going to college coaches to become the head coach at the NHL level. The Blackhawks should follow similarly if they decide to fire Q. Obviously firing Quenneville must be justified, so expect the Blackhawks to give him another month or so on the hot seat before any move is done.
