Drake Caggiula is scheduled to play his first game tonight in a Hawks uniform against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Caggiula was traded to Chicago from Edmonton for defenseman Brandon Manning on December 30th. Caggiula has not played yet, but is ready for the opportunity. The new Hawk said,
“Sometimes some guys get traded and they're gone right away, they don't have any time to organize stuff at home, so that was a good thing for me. But I want to focus on playing hockey."
Coach Colliton and company are happy to add the forward into the mix.
“I like that he's got a real high compete level and gritty and will get in the dirty areas. And he's got a little bit of skill too," Colliton said. "(He) can play different forward positions, so that's exciting. That'll add a little depth and competition to our forward group. We'll see what he can do."
The Hawks are playing the Pens tonight in a game that is kicking off a rough patch for the team. The Pens are currently on a 8 game win streak and look like a team that can win a championship. At one point this season the Hawks and Pens sat in identical places at the Bottom of the standings, now the Pens have risen back up. The Hawks are going to need to take every game as a do or die.
The game against the Pens tonight is a kick off to week of tough games for the Hawks. The Flames, Nashville and Vegas are all on the schedule for the Hawks this week so buckle up for a tough time.
