All good things must come to an end. Alex Debrincat had 5 goals and 2 assists in his last 3 games going into Sunday’s matchup against the Stars. Debrincat has been killing it this season with 11 power play goals, compared to the 6 he had last year. Well the Cat failed to register a point in the game against the Stars ending his 4 game point streak.
Debrincat has been a menace on the Hawks team this year, and I know we pick a lot of Blackhawks for the Player of the Week but it is truly because how good the Hawks stars have been. Debrincat, Toews and Kane have lead the Blackhawks this season, and are a big reason they are actually in contention for the playoffs. The Cat has 34 goals this season and is averaging almost a point per game, in just 2 season in his career he has 62 goals and is proving he is an NHL player.
The 5-7 165 pound monster was considered to be too small to play in the NHL, then Dylan Strome was brought to Chicago and things changed. Strome and Debrincat were on the same line back in Juniors and have been recreating their chemistry in Chicago. Strome and Debrincat talk hockey all the time and share a obsession with Patrick Kane about all things NHL, talking non stop about the standings and where everyone is at. They are so energetic about the game and have been unstoppable on the ice.
Debrincat has found a home on the Blackhawks power play, and only needs to have the puck for a second to score, one timers from Kane Strome and Gustafsson have become a regular occurrence. It is only a matter of time before Debrincat becomes the Blackhawks top scorer, the question is can he help lead the Hawks to the playoffs?
