Player Of the Week
Dylan Strome
Dylan Strome was once considered on par with Connor McDavid, and Jack Eichel. Strome was drafted behind the elite pair of NHL players and was instantly tossed into the mix as a future hall of famer. Strome started his career in Arizona and did not get much playing time, in his 48 games in Arizona Strome had 7 goals and 9 assists, while averaging 13:18 minutes of ice time a night. Strome was not being played as an NHL player and was dropped in on one of the worst teams in the league. Then something amazing happened. He was traded to the Blackhawks.
Strome in Chicago has been a 3rd overall pick caliber player. He is averaging 17:14 minutes of ice time a night and has 11 goals with 19 assists. Strome is becoming an NHL top 6 player on the fly this season, and has been worth Nick Schmaltz in my opinion. Now his success comes with the help of his line mate, and best buddy, Alex Debrincat. Debrincat is having a career year, and being united with his dynamic duo partner Dylan Strome is only helping the team.
In Strome’s last 4 games he has 9 points. He has made some key passes on the power play and is currently playing at the top of his game. Strome is centering a line with Debrincat and Kahun and is loving the role. He is playing on a power play unit with Toews, Kane, and Debrincat. Dylan has proved in a very short time that he is an NHL player. He will be in a Hawks uniform for a long time.
Strome’s great play earned him the honor of UTL’s Player of the week, it also helps that I met him this past Friday.
