It is a beautiful summer night, the stars are shining bright, your telescope, planted in the grass at your feet, is giving you a bright view into the different constellations in the sky, from the Big to the Little Dipper every star is shining. Of course you would love to look back at the bigger picture but, it's time to look at just one star, the brightest star in the sky, or the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
No team has been a bigger surprise this playoffs then the Columbus Blue Jackets. This team has gone from the bottom NHL Playoff team to a cup favorite in the span of 2 periods. I would take the Columbus Blue Jackets in the last 3 games over the Tampa Bay Lighting team that won 62 games this year any day. Speaking of Tampa, where did that team go?
Tampa Bay has the best team in hockey, without a doubt, the best team in hockey.
Tampa Bay HAD the best offense in the NHL, with 325 goals this year, Tampa Bay HAD the best defense on paper, and the best special units. They WERE up 3-0 in the first game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, one of the many teams they steam rolled in the regular season. However thanks to a little thing called getting hot at the right time. Tampa Bay finds themselves down in the series one game away from being swept.
Columbus has earned where they are at in the first round. Sure they may not have had the best season but they made it. The Blue Jackets are getting contributions from all 4 lines and are playing a very team centric game. The team has 10 different goal scorers, compared to Tampa Bay not even getting their big guns of Point, Stamkos, and Kucherov a point so far this series.
I do not believe Tampa Bay is done. Kucherov is going to play in game 4 on Tuesday and Tampa is going to give everything to this game. The president trophy winner can not get shut out. It just can not happen, the pride of the Lightning needs to show up now, and not by throwing punches by putting the puck in the net.
If Columbus does win and make it all the way to the final, I am starting the petition now, Sergei Bobrovsky is the league playoff MVP…
