It has been a long month of November for the Chicago Blackhawks, featuring some big changes in the franchise. Earlier this month the Blackhawks let go of Joel Quenneville, then earlier this week the Blackhawks traded Nick Shmaltz to the Arizona Coyotes. That will be the end of catching up on what changed within the Blackhawks, now we will talk about what needs to change.

Head Coach Jeremy Colliton has been behind the bench for the Hawks for 10 games so far, boasting a 3-5-2 record thus far. Colliton, known as a great communicator, has been rather quier with the team so far, not making any big changes. In the last four games the Blackhawks have been outscored 11-1 in the first period. Colliton might want to start emphasizing starting the game on the right note.
Another suggestion for the young head coach, do not put Kane Toews and Saad on the same line. Quenneville won 3 stanley cups as a coach, and it was not because he put those two superpowers (Kane and Toews) on the same line.
Chicago lost 8-3 against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday. During the game broadcast Blackhawks broadcaster Eddie Olczyk said something that Blackhawks management needs to hear.
"Until the Hawks correct that (defensive) zone... it's going to be a battle"
Chicago can not win games, not until they fix their defensive zone issues. Bringing in Dylan Strome and Brendan Perlini was a great idea. Strome with his old teammate Alex Debrincat could be a very powerful duo, especially when their other line mate is Patrick Kane. However bringing in those two players does not take away from the fact that the Hawks blue line is dwindling.
Keith and Seabrook are not who they used to be and Jokiharju was scratched by Coach C against the Florida Panthers for some unknown reason. Chicago's season is far from over, they just need to fix the lack of players playing defense on the team. I am not the general manager of the Chicago Blackhawks, but if I was I would trade for a defenseman with Artem Anismov as the trade bait.
