Moving On

Kansas City Chiefs - The Chiefs beat the Colts in blow out fashion this past weekend. Patrick Mahomes passed for 278 yards and completed 27 passes out of his 41 attempts. Mahomes rushed for a touchdown as well and showcased his skill with the ball. Damien Williams, Tyreek Hill, and Darrel WIlliams all rushed for touchdowns on the day. Travis Kielce was Mahomes go to receiver on the day, Kielce ran for 108 yards. A key to the Chiefs success, the defense held up strong. Andrew Luck was sacked 3 times during the game to help propel the Chiefs to a win. After going up 17-0 in the first two quarters the Chiefs did not give up the lead. The Colts showed up late for this game, that’s alright they can DVR the rest of the playoffs from home. The Chiefs defense forced the Colts 0-9 with 3rd down conversions. They will need to show up big next week if they have any chance of beating Tom Brady. Rookie Quarterback Patrick Mahomes played 1 game last season, this is his first year behind the O-Line calling the shots. Mahomes is going up against a ver experience quarterback next week in Brady. If Mahomes is going to win he is going to make sure he does not do anything crazy and play smart.

New England Patriots - The Patriots have made it to at least the conference finals every year since 2011. Tom Brady has been to the super bowl the last two seasons and might be back again this year. I would say Brady is going to lose but come on it is Brady. I would say something about their game last week against the Chargers but it does not matter. Every week they make a team that played a great season look horrible. Tom and company know what time of year they need to start playing, and it is now.

Los Angeles Rams - The Cowboys had a great season, the Rams are having a better season plane and simple. After a close start in the first quarter with the Cowboys up 7-3 the Rams offense picked up. C. J. Anderson rushed for 123 yards and 2 touchdowns while TOdd Gurley rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown as well. The Rams run game was really what shined this week, so good job to the offensive line of the Rams. The O-Line prevented Jared Goff from facing much pressure when passing. Goff was not sacked once on the day. Two rushing teams faced off this week. The Rams and Cowboys both value big rushing running backs. Ezekiel Elliott was held to just 47 yards. The Rams defense also played another big game. They had 1 sack and managed to hold the Cowboys offense to just 1 third down conversion out of 10. Sean McVay and the Rams are in for a great matchup next week against the Saints, as the two teams have the same record.

New Orleans Saints - Drew Brees and the Saints managed to dethrone the defending super bowl champions. Every Bears fan was rooting for the Saints as the Eagles ending their season the week before. As a Bears fan watching Alshon Jeffery drop a pass that could have given his team a first down in field goal range was beautiful, seeing that ball go throw his hands to a Saints defender was even better. Enough about that though. Drew Brees passed for 2 touchdowns and went 28 for 38 on his attempts. Brees threw one interception and was sacked twice on the day. Michael Thomas was Brees’ target on a lot of his passes. Going into the game against the Rams, the Saints are our favorite because they have more parity when it comes to the pass and run game. Everything for the Saints will revolve around shutting down Todd Gurley and the Rams run game. Both of these are high offensive teams, ranking 2nd and 3rd in points scored. The Saints have won the last 3 times these 2 teams have met since 2016. Sunday will be for who goes to the Super Bowl so a little more is riding on it.

The Matchups for the Conference Championships are going to be stellar. With the Saints playing the Rams and the Patriots facing off against the Chiefs. NFC AFC Championship games are often better than the super bowl due to the talent that is in these games. The NFC arguable is going to produce the super bowl champion, we won't know until the super bowl on February 3rd though.
