My Town Chi Town 12/13

Writer's picture: Jimmy LynchJimmy Lynch

The Bears and Blackhawks have had a lot going on this past week. For the team on the east side of the Willis tower the Bears finally have a chance to clinch their ticket to the post season against no other than the Packers. THE PACKERS. Mitch is having a good season at quarterback but he needs to improve in order for the Bears to truly have a successful post season. The key to this game between the Packers and Bears is shutting down Rodgers and making sure Mitch does not throw any interceptions, do not give the Packers any easy points.

On the opposite side of the city the Blackhawks finally won a game, it is about time. The Hawks have won their first game since mid November and managed to score first in the game. We can talk all day about how bad this team is but they did play a great game yesterday against the Penguins. Except for some Rust. Pittsburgh Penguins forward Bryan Rust registered a Hatrick Yesterday against the Hawks. Chicago still managed to pull through.

Who is flying high?

Brent Seabrook

Seabrook played a great game yesterday against the Penguins. During the play that lead to Seabrooks goal he was all over the place making sure the puck stayed in the zone and giving his teammates great scoring chances. Also Seabrook and Keith played there 1001 game together yesterday something no other group of defensemen have ever done. Man those guys are old now.

Jordon Howard

Last week against the Rams Howard registered more than 100 rushing yards, something they will need him to do more frequently for the Bears offense. The Bears run game is not what makes them a great offense, but making sure the opponent has to guess run or pass will open up players down the field for Mitch to pass to.

Who is down?

Patrick Kane

Kane made a desperate attempt to score on an empty net yesterday night against the Penguins, something that could have cost him an injury. Following the play Kane was slow to get up and seemed to be holding his right side awkwardly. Those boards do not give at all so hopefully Kane did not break or fracture his wrist.

The Green Bay Packers

”Nobody forgot Aaron’s little comments after they lost that big game where he sails, ‘All we got to do is win out, and go to Soldier FIeld and win like we’ve done a bunch in the past,’”

Akiem Hicks did not take kindly to what Rodgers, Green Bay’s Quarterback, had to say about his matchup with The Bears following a loss to the Vikings. I think Hicks, Chicago‘s Defensive Tackle might tell Rodgers about the comment if given the opportunity on the field. Hicks also said,

“I’m real excited for Aaron to come down here and play this game.”

Maybe the two can get dinner before the game...
