Eastern Conference Resolutions

Writer's picture: Jimmy LynchJimmy Lynch

The Western Conference Resolutions was dropped before the new year, now we present something for every team to improve on at this point in the season for the East. The Stanley Cup Champion has come from the East every year the last 3 years in a row, and I do not see that changing the way there’s Eastern Conference teams have been playing.

Ottawa Senators (35 points)

Last year Ottawa was filled with drama off the ice, Erik Karlsson and Mike Hoffman both left the franchise, and went to opposite coasts of one another. The Owner of the franchise Eugene Melnyk hinted at moving the franchise last year as well. Ottawa's New Year Resolution is to show up in the paper for your games not something off the ice.

Philadelphia Flyers (36 points)

It’s a long shot to turn this season around, try improving on the power play. The PP% is 13.93%

New Jersey Devils (39 points)

The story of the NHL last year was the Vegas Golden Knights, another was Taylor Hall carrying New Jersey to the playoffs. Hall is not carrying them again this year.

Detroit Red Wings (39 points)

The Red Wings are going to miss the playoffs for the 4th year in a row. After going on one of the longest playoff streaks ever. Detroit needs to start rebuilding their team.

New York Rangers (41 points)

Keep rebuilding the team, last year the Rangers wrote a letter saying they are going to rebuild the team so they will be good again soon, do not do anything stupid to try and make the playoffs at the deadline.

Florida Panthers (41 points)

New Years Resolution, start deciding what your plan is for the NHL expansion draft, you do NOT want to give up two talented players again (Jonathan Marchessault and Reilly Smith)

Carolina Hurricanes (43 points)

Keep doing what you are doing, the Canes are fun to watch and are starting to grow a identity and culture.

Montreal Canadiens (49 points)

The Canadians need to keep pushing and improve on their special teams if they are going to have a shot at making the playoffs.

New York Islanders (50 Points)

New Years Resolution, your team is in contention for a playoff spot stop complaining about Tavares leaving please.

Buffalo Sabres (50 Points)

The rebuild has finally completed the bad news is they are in the toughest division in hockey. The resolution for the Sabres is to win division games against the Lightning and Maple Leafs

Columbus Blue Jackets (51 Points)

The Blue Jackets Resolution is to trade Artemi Panarin who does not want to resign with the club. If they trade him they can get something back in return.

Pittsburgh Penguins (52 Points)

I do not understand how this team is always good. The Pens resolution is to stay healthy and keep your top guys producing.

Washington Capitals (52 Points)

The Washington Capitals finally managed to get over the hump and win the Stanley cup. This year they need to understand that repeating is twice as tough. The Caps need to keep their top guys in the lineup and make sure Tom Wilson does not get himself suspended.

Boston Bruins (52 Points)

The Bruins are having a president trophy caliber year Boston is currently riding a 4 game win streak and has one of the best young guns in the NHL in David Pasternak. The Bruins need to improve on their third period scoring, they currently have a 1-11-1 record when down after 2.

Toronto Maple Leafs (56 Points)

Toronto is a good hockey team, only one team is better than them, the Tampa Bay Lighting. Toronto may have the best offense with Mitch Marner, John Tavares and Auston Matthews. Toronto’s resolution is bringing in a defensemen to help equalize some of the firepower on the team.

Tampa Bay Lighting (66 Points)

Win the Stanley Cup, honestly they can already give it to the Lighting.
